Business Unit Overview

8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm. Responsibilities The Plant Manager is responsible for the planning, directing, operating and controlling of the manufacturing facility in the production and distribution of products at the optimum low cost and within established quality standards. The operating departments under the incumbents control include Production, Packaging, Plant Logistics, Quality Assurance, Plant Engineering, Controller/Administrative functions, and Plant Human Resources. MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensures that the manufacturing and packaging of quality products is achieved in an efficient and timely manner and within standard operating procedures and customers’ demands and specifications. Supervises managers and ensures all departments work cohesively to meet identified objectives. Develops an effective and capable management team. Takes appropriate steps to ensure continuous improvement and development of key subordinates. Ensures that plant equipment is maintained for maximum efficiency and utilization. Develops annual plans and participates in strategic direction for capital requirements of the facility. Analyzes operations and develops solutions to problems to minimize or eliminate variances from standards. Administers the company’s labor relations policies; conducts grievance meetings as required and actively participates in negotiation of labor contract, if appropriate. Ensures the location objectives and expectations are communicated and linked to individual goals and organizational behaviors. PRODUCT QUALITY & FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: As an employee of 8th Avenue Food & Provisions you share in the responsibility for producing a food product that meets established specifications of the highest quality and is safe and wholesome. It is the Plant Manager’s responsibility to immediately report any incident or situation that may compromise any of the above factors or issues to the Senior Director of Quality. In the event of the QA Managers absence, responsibility of Quality Assurance & Food Safety is designated to the Plant Manager with an indirect line of support to the Senior Director of Quality. DIMENSIONS: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Personnel Supervised 7 Professionals Location Employees 122 Production of pasta products 195 million pounds annually MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFUL PERFORM MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Knowledge of pasta processing Knowledge of operations of equipment (mechanical), Knowledge of general accounting systems, scheduling techniques and inventory planning, customer service and distribution systems; Ability to analyze and solve problems, Ability to effectively communicate orally and written General management and leadership skills. PHYSICAL DEMANDS – The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires sitting for periods of time, walking on concrete floors, and climbing stairs. Position requires visual acuity to observe plant operations. Must be able to use a computer, mouse, FAX, copier, calculator, touch-tone phone all requiring hand and finger movement. Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally. Exposure to flour dust and hot/humid conditions on occasion. Travel required. Work schedule may fluctuate to meet the needs of the operation including various shift and or weekend availability. MINIMUM/PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Engineering, or related field. Equivalent combination of education and related experience considered. Experience: 7-9 Years work experience including specific experience with food Production/manufacturing, including 3-5 years of supervisory/management background.
