JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB ID: 20796 ATTENTION: Information Technology Services (ITS) at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is seeking a Network Services Engineer (Network Engineer IV (B), IT 160). JOB DETAILS: The Network Engineer IV position completes varied, complex, and strategic system planning, installation, analysis, and issue resolution to support network connectivity and performance. Reporting to the Network Operations Director, this position leads network design, maintenance, and support efforts to well-position the university as a competitive, innovative educational institution that offers top-tier services for our students, employees, and community. The Network Engineer IV works closely and collaboratively with other members of the IT Services staff and other campus partners including Facilities, University Police services, and University Housing, to ensure efficient service delivery. RESPONSIBILITIES: Designs, installs, and tests complex and varied networks and associated hardware and software to ensure compliance and adhere to established timelines and expectations Develops and implements complex network management and monitoring tool suites, writing software to automate as needed Develops and schedules operational work plans and monitors network technology research and new equipment procurements to meet program or project requests. Contributes to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to align with strategic initiatives and unit objectives Identifies, analyzes, troubleshoots, and documents complex and varied network connectivity and performance issues in local and partner networks utilizing expertise and discretion. Develops and executes training and serves as a subject matter expert to internal and external groups, peers, and partners Other duties as assigned by the Network Operations Director and CIO Specific Technology Responsibilities: Cisco Routing, switching, and Wireless networks Cisco Firepower and ASA firewall technology Cisco AMP, Umbrella, ISE Applications received by May 19, 2024 are ensured full consideration.
