Job Description

We are searching for a backend serverside Fullstack Java Developer for a Veterinary and Animal Health Care Services company. This specific group is responsible for the maintenance and development of a monolithic, serverside application that was created over 20 years ago. This application is considered to be a command center for Vet Clinics and used for operating and handling results with over 60,000 global users. This application was originally programmed in Visual Basic, but has been transitioned to Java over the last 20 years. For this reason, the application is extremely complex with many layers. At times, developers can become frustrated with the complexity and rational behind the business logic. Therefore, we are looking for an individual who not only has experience working in complex, monolithic serverside applications, but who genuinely enjoys problem solving in this environment. This team operates in KANBAN methodology with 3 developers, 2 testers, and 1 DevOps resource. This specific squad will be working on integration with a new iterative analyzer device. This application has 3 modules with over 350,000 lines of code which requires a deep technical knowledge.

We are not looking for a developer who has focused on a light-weight microservices in the cloud. Unfortunately the application is not ready for that state, and a developer with this recent experience would most likely be bored and unfulfilled. The ideal candidate would have worked in the Medical Device or Banking industries, or an organization that worked with complex, legacy applications. 75% of the development will be backend, and 25% will be UI / frontend focused using React and Typescript. The frontend was formerly developed in Java FX but is not a hard requirement.

Skills and Requirements

• 5+ years of experience of Software Engineering experience

• 3+ years of recent experience developing Java functionality in a serverside, monolithic application

• 3+ years of React experience using Typescript

-Ability and willingness to be a problem-solver and work in a 20 year-old, complex application

• Strong in his / hers development skills with the ability to give direction and opinion - JavaFX Experience

• Node.JS experience null
