Duties & Responsibilities

Key HSE and Quality responsibilities

  • Supporting the implementation of the Oceaneering HSE & Quality Core Processes and HSE & Quality objectives and Action Improvement plans;

  • Providing support for the Oceaneering Crisis Management Team, where required;

  • Involvement in the review and approval process for corporate and site Management System documentation;

  • Support & participate in HSE & Quality Audits;

  • Responsibility for his/her own health and safety and that of other persons affected by his/her activities; and

  • For managers and supervisors, actively leading HSE & Quality initiatives and demonstrating HSE & Quality leadership; and

Responsibilities and key performance indicators


  • Ensuring that Oceaneering’s HSE Management System and expectations are fully implemented with Regional Operations and compliant with local regulations

  • Carrying out a range of NDT inspection techniques on components, pipework and structural assemblies etc., in order to establish acceptability to specification

  • Carrying out the most effective NDT techniques to components requiring inspection

  • Ensuring that the work area is safe to carry out NDT activities

  • Ensuring inspection is carried out within the parameters of the applicable specification and procedures

  • Evaluating results of the test in accordance with applicable specification and procedure

  • Producing clear and concise reports detailing the methods used in and results of the inspection

  • Ensuring any limitations of the inspection or deviations from the workscope are clearly documented and communicated to the Client/Coordinator at the earliest opportunity

  • Carrying out work in a timely and efficient manner in order to meet deadlines, changing priorities when the situation requires

  • Ensuring that HSE policies and procedures are understood and adhered to so far as is reasonably practicable in order to ensure a safe working environment

  • Performing the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems of the Company Reporting relationships

  • Reporting to Onshore / Offshore Coordinator


Qualifications, Skills, knowledge and experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Qualifications and Training

  • Secondary education in English, Maths and Science

  • Relevant state Radiation Licence

  • Welding Inspection (desirable)

  • Coatings Inspection (desirable)

  • ISO 9712 Level II in the following:

o Ultrasonic Testing (UT) ando Radiographic Testing (RT) ando Magnetic Particle (MT) oro Liquid Penetrant (PT)

Plus a minimum of two of the following:

o Eddy Current Testing (ECT)o Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)o Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD)


  • Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)


  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in operational environments as an NDT Technician

  • Experience in all qualified testing methods

  • Have a general knowledge of other NDT methods, product manufacturing and inspection technology used by the Company performing NDT

  • Experience in completing NDT worksheets and reports

Required Skills and Aptitudes

  • Advanced computer skills

  • Knowledge of the Oil & Gas Industry including related Legislation, Acts and Regulations, Industry Standards and Codes

  • Knowledge of NATA requirements

  • Familiar with QA/QC systems and procedures

  • High level of written and verbal communication

  • Ability to maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks/environment

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables

  • Knowledge of safety standards (e.g. Step Back 5x5, JSEA, HSEQ systems etc.)
