Your Role at KIK

The Director of Engineering, Capital Projects reports to the VP of Process Engineering and is responsible for overseeing and managing the planning, execution, and completion of capital projects within an organization's engineering department. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong project management skills, technical expertise, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams effectively. You will play a critical role in ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards while aligning with the organization's strategic objectives. We are looking for an individual to be located in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Orlando, or Tampa.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Receive design details from the design team with a full understanding of project deliverables to coordinate bid package development and release for construction bidding and field execution. Select contractors and contracting methods based on engineering ways of working methodology.

  • Develop and implement strategies for the successful execution of capital projects in alignment with the organization's goals and objectives

  • Build and lead multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, equipment manufacturers, contractors, and other stakeholders. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members to ensure successful project delivery (on-cost and on-schedule)

  • Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to optimize project outcomes and minimize risks

  • Act as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, clients, regulatory authorities, and vendors. Communicate project status, risks, and issues effectively and ensure alignment with stakeholder expectations

  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project delays, cost overruns, and other challenges. Proactively address issues as they arise to keep projects on track

  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, building codes, safety regulations, and environmental requirements throughout the project lifecycle

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery processes, methodologies, and tools. Implement best practices and lessons learned to optimize future projects

  • Develop and manage project budgets, monitor expenses, and track financial performance against established targets. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvement

  • Establish and enforce quality assurance processes to ensure that deliverables meet or exceed quality standards and specifications

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Mechanical or Packaging degree preferred

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, engineering capital projects, or equipment management in a manufacturing, industrial, military, or related environment

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire multidisciplinary teams and suppliers

  • Solid understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques

  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, allocate resources, and drive results

  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is a plus

  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards in the construction/engineering industry

  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera) and other productivity tools

  • Proven ability to complete major projects in a manufacturing environment

  • Must be willing to travel at a minimum of 50%
