West Sound Workforce is assisting an award-winning home and garden center nestled on Vashon Island in seeking a Small Engine Mechanic to join their rental department. In addition to providing excellent customer service, as the Small Engine Mechanic, you will perform skilled repair and maintenance of primarily small engine equipment, both gas and diesel, to include lawn mowers, pumps, chain saws, weed eaters, etc. If you are mechanically inclined and comfortable using a variety of tools to diagnose and repair machinery.

Shift Information:

• Full time, schedules vary
• 7am-5pm, including weekends

What you will do as a Small Engine Mechanic:

• Performs routine and major repairs to a variety of gasoline powered equipment assigned to all work centers.
• Performs preventive maintenance to equipment such as lubrication, oil changes, air filters, etc.
• Determines and prepares proper gas/oil mixes for assigned equipment.
• Troubleshoots and repairs equipment electrical starting and charging systems.
• Prepares cost estimates for repairs and makes recommendations.

What we are looking for:

• High School diploma or GED
• Considerable knowledge in equipment maintenance and repair gained through formal training or on the job experience.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Basic computer skills.
