Applied Research Associates, Inc. Staff Field Technician in Tyndall AFB, Florida

Description

The ARA Engineering Science Division is seeking a staff field technician to join our progressive and passionate Reactive Materials Group on-site at Tyndall AFB. The qualified applicant will have experience in the handling, testing, and analysis of explosive substances, to include homemade/terrorist explosives and chemical precursors.

What you will do as a staff field technician :

  • Assist in the testing, moving, repair, and adjustment of equipment associated with trouble reports and perform routine maintenance.

  • Assist in all phases of testing and perform other support functions necessary to assist the group in executing different projects. The support functions include but are not limited to: safety monitoring of hazardous operations, yard and building maintenance, handling of chemicals and explosives, introducing test articles into Transportation Security Equipment, and recording the results of test data.

  • Work closely with the group’s senior operator of the Micro CT Xray system, and initially learn the broader concepts and applications of the instrument, with the goal of attaining a higher level of understanding and capability of the instrument.

  • Broadly apply basic principles, theories and concepts to job assignments and exhibit technical and operational proficiency solving problems of moderate complexity contributing to the completion of projects and programs in area of expertise.

  • Interface with internal and/or external customers and provide guidance to other employees.

Staff field technician requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training equivalent to an associate degree preferred.

  • 3-4 years of related experience in the handling, testing, and analysis of explosive substances, to include homemade/terrorist explosives and chemical precursors. Must be comfortable with handling explosive materials on a daily basis.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with an active DoD Security Clearance (or cleared within the previous 12 months) and the ability to obtain a DHS Suitability Clearance.

  • Must be able to obtain a C class CDL with Hazardous Material endorsement.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lb or more.
