Phifer Incorporated is searching for an Electrical Engineer to work within our Project Engineer group.  Our engineers work independently on different projects, so we’re looking for an individual that is dependable, a self-starter and is comfortable in making decision. Guidance is always available from the Engineering Manager and others within the group.  The Electrical Project engineer is responsible for 3 main areas of responsibility; electrical engineering project support, Phifer utilities monitoring and managing our Gas Train Safety program.  Responsibilities in these areas will require design work, project coordination, project installation, startup assistance, trouble shooting and coordinating repair work. The Electrical Project Engineer may periodically be called upon by other Phifer support groups for maintenance support, repair support, and involvement with modifications to existing equipment.  The Electrical Project Engineer may also offer support to Safety in the area of Electrical Safety.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited College or University or enrollment in such program. 

The candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S.

ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

1.  Prefer 5+ years experience as an Electrical Engineer in a manufacturing facility

2.  Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Autocad applications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:     

Electrical Engineering Project Support

  1. Will provide electrical engineering design of power and controls for the Project Engineering Group.

  2. Will coordinate Phifer Electrical Maintenance to implement project power requirements.

  3. Will perform general project management functions such as communication with product line management          and other engineers or maintenance groups on manpower, scheduling and other needed resources.

  4. Will work with Phifer Engineering, Phifer Controls Engineering, Phifer Process Controls or any external                resources to implement projects.

Plant Utilities

  1. Will monitor monthly utility bills; cost and usage, for Phifer Kauloosa and Phifer Fayette.

  2. Will notify the Engineering Manager of abrupt unexplained changes and seek out causes to such changes.

Gas Train Safety (GTS) Program

1.Will work with Electrostatic Precipitator Technicians to conduct annual GTS audits.

  1. Will keep records of GTS audits and their findings.

  2. Will initiate and coordinate repairs as a result of the GTS audits.

  3. Will be willing to train on natural gas burner operation and controls and assist with burner setup and/or                  troubleshooting for both process and non-process burners.

  4. Willing to learn code requirements of NFPA 86 and implement in burner setup.

  5. Will provide Cost Accounting with annual natural gas allocations to each Product Line.
