Your role at Clorox:

The Maintenance Mechanic I is an entry level technician responsible for organizing and performing inspections, equipment information research, repair and general plant maintenance.

Starting Pay: $27.06 per hour.

In this role, you will:

  • Follow supervisor and equipment manufacturer instructions to troubleshoot complex equipment issues.

  • Diagnose and make all types of repairs or adjustments, including mechanical electrical, lubricating , etc on all plant equipment, which are usually done on the mechanical portions of the machines.

  • Develop, implement and maintain preventative and regular maintenance work orders, which include inspections, equipment information gathering work, equipment numbering for preventative maintenance historical records control, lubrication, replacement and repair components.

  • Operate portable power tools and basic shop machinery as required for repairs, modifications, improvements, and rebuilds of existing plant equipment.

  • Collaborate with supervisors or trainees in all functions of the work as required; work with other maintenance personnel in relocating or setting up new and used equipment and supervise work of MRO Stock organization and MRO inventories.

  • Perform inspections and understand preventative maintenance, work order and historical records, file operation and develop written reports for preventative maintenance files of all conditions found in inspection work.

What we look for:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with packaging, compression, encapsulation, coating, etc. machines.

  • Intermediate level manufacturing automation skills

  • Intermediate level blueprint reading skills

  • Proficient in electrical diagnostics, troubleshooting, and replacing electrical components such as motor drives, power supplies, contactors, VFDs, logic controls, and PLCs.

  • Ability to differentiate between electrical and mechanical issues on equipment

  • Intermediate knowledge following LOTO procedures and complementary energy isolation procedures.

  • Mechanical technical or electrical certification.

  • Knowledge/experience in electromechanical and pneumatic systems.

  • Knowledge/experience in instrumentation and controls.

  • Working knowledge/experience trouble shooting with packaging lines, compression and encapsulation machines.

  • Machine shop (machining, welding sheet metal) fabrication experience.

Supervisory Responsibility:

None

Work Environment:

Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the plant. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to roperate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. No specific vision requirements.

Objects weighing 50 pounds or more must be accompanied by a second individual to avoid injury.
