Boll & Branch Technical Designer in Summit, New Jersey

Boll & Branch is seeking a highly qualified Technical Designer with a passion for and experience in the home textile industry. In this role, you will create detailed and production ready technical drawings/ specs across all product categories. This function is responsible for specifying and maintaining product measurements, tolerances, and constructions to drive and maintain the Company's highest quality standards. The ideal candidate is exceptionally knowledgeable about construction and manufacturing, pays close attention to product details (those the customer can and cannot see), is an effective communicator and time manager, with experience executing to seasonal milestones in the product development calendar. This role will report into the Sr. Manager, Product Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed technical construction drawings/ specs for sheeting, top of bed, decorative pillows, throws, blankets, and bath textiles including robes and towels.

  • Learn and maintain an ongoing understanding of Boll & Branch creative direction, brand aesthetic and design language

  • Collaborate with designers and product developers to inform all product construction details and ensure that the technical specs specifically reflect design intent of the product.

  • Review and measure all submits for accuracy and adherence to technical specs, maintaining established tolerances and quality controls.

  • Engineer constructions to meet costing and margin targets.

  • Effectively communicate comments for next round samples and/ or approvals to external factory partners.

  • Manage projects to ensure key milestones are met, and maintain accurate, detailed records and track outstanding items to hit seasonal time-lines.

  • Review PPs and TOPs for bulk production, and manage comments and/ or approvals.

  • Communicate any variances and actively problem solve.

  • Be highly aware of industry trends in constructions and make suggestions to differentiate and elevate new product developments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical design, home textiles or related field and/ or 6+ years experience in technical design for home textiles categories.

  • Extensive experience creating production-ready technical construction drawings/ specs.

  • Deep expertise in technical constructions of sheeting, top of bed, decorative pillows, throws, blankets, and bath textiles including robes and towels.

  • Ability to manage complex projects across multiple seasons, fabrications and categories.

  • Clear understanding of product development and production processes.

  • ​Proficient, fast, accurate and expert working knowledge of Adobe and Microsoft Suites.

  • Experience in setting and maintaining measurement tolerances.

  • Experience in measuring and reviewing prototypes and samples for construction and effectively communicating comments and approvals to vendor partners.

  • Experience in executing to the highest quality standards.

  • Understanding of raw materials and manufacturing.

  • Creative problem solver and self-motivated.

  • Energetic and positive team player, nimble and flexible in approach.

The primary location for this role is in our Summit, NJ headquarters. It involves working with our physical products so requires the individual to work from the office 3-5 days per week.

The annual base salary range for this role is $95,000 - $150,000. It is important to note that our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size, industry, and the market and are one part of the total rewards that we provide. Individual pay rate decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, scope of the role, and internal peer benchmarking.
