Amazon Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE), Amazon - Worldwide Grocery Stores Tech in San Diego, California

Description

As a Senior Software Engineer (SDE) on the Worldwide Grocery Cart and Checkout team, you will be a technical leader responsible for driving innovation and excellence in the design, development, and implementation of complex software systems. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of online grocery shopping by tackling challenging technical problems and delivering high-quality, scalable solutions that meet the ever-evolving needs of our customers. This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Own critical features: Take ownership of the entire development lifecycle for key features, from initial concept and design all the way through to implementation, testing, and deployment.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of critical features and functionalities for [product/service].

  • Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to high coding standards.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., product managers, designers, QA) to deliver solutions that meet business needs.

  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the team.

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and trends in the software engineering field.

San Diego, CA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
