AUTO TECHNICIAN II Public Works Department Fleet Services

Deadline Extended - Up to \$2,500 sign on bonus available, plus hourly wage increase

Schedule will be Monday thru Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (includes paid lunch break)

The Department of Public Works seeks skilled individuals who will perform general service, overhaul and repair work on light and heavy-duty trucks and other automotive and mechanical equipment with a focus on heavy-duty. This position requires knowledge of diagnosis, operation of gasoline and diesel engines, and standard practices of the mechanic trade. Must possess valid Maine Class B drivers license (Class A desired) or have ability to obtain within six (6) months (City will help to obtain Class A or B license). Must possess valid Vehicle Inspection License A, D & E (can obtain within 6 months) and must provide copies of license. Successful applicants must pass pre-employment medical exam and fitness assessment and pass federally mandated drug test upon attainment of CDL permit and must have and maintain a good driving record. Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check and positive reference check. Assignment and pay grade will be based on inspection license status, skills and drivers license status.

Labor and Trades Union position Grade 24M-MCII - \$1002.80/week to \$1095.60/week, depending on years of experience, plus an additional \$1.00 market rate stipend per hour and \$.50/hour for each ASE up to \$4.00.
