JCB Inc. Operational Buyer - Parts in Pooler, Georgia

Position Purpose

This position is responsible for managing and implementing procurement initiatives for aftermarket parts in line with group standards, and will work with assigned vendors for core products to drive out costs and add efficiencies in supply.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Work with assigned vendors (core products) for all aspects of purchasing functions
  • Work with Aftermarket Manager and Group Purchasing to support JCB Service
    • Includes pricing, lead times, MOQs, and key purchasing responsibilities
  • Negotiate NA domestic pricing and process price change requests
  • Create new schedule agreements
  • Investigate invoice issues and work with suppliers to resolve
  • Set up new vendors and extend part numbers in SAP
  • Process Techwebs as required
  • Process daily buyer worklist
  • Work with NPI team to ensure JCB Service is included in the process and ready for launch of new product
  • Develop vendor KPI and metrics to measure vendor performance

Nature and Scope

Reports to the General Manager of North American Parts Operations

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS Engineering or BA Business
  • 5 + years in strategic purchasing experience
  • Must pass any drug screens, background checks and pre-employment tests as applicable

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel: Advanced Level) applications and ERP Purchasing system (preferably SAP)
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate and manage tasks issued to independent reports such as suppliers and cross functional team members
  • Knowledge of product costing, accounting in a component of manufacturing environment, and commodity pricing and foreign currencies
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of management
  • Skilled in project management, reporting and presenting information, and statistical analysis
  • Practiced in negotiations and conflict resolution
  • Ability to read and interpret bill of materials, engineering drawings, standards and specifications
  • Experience with the product development and NPI process from Concept to Production Release (ISIR/PPAP)
  • Knowledge of industrial and quality principles, including: process layout, standard operating procedures, SPC (Cpk, Cmk, Ppk), PFMEA, Lean Six Sigma, APQP, 5S, ISO TS16949, ISO 14000, Kaizen, etc.
  • Knowledge of product costing, accounting in a manufacturing environment, commodity pricing and foreign currencies
  • Knowledge of international trade requirements for importing and exporting products, INCO terms
  • Understanding of implications and challenges related to domestic and international sourcing
  • Experience with standard practices, legal requirements and international purchasing terms and conditions
  • Autonomous and entrepreneurial work ethic
  • Knowledge of supply chain, materials management, and road/ocean freight
  • Ability to take direction well and work with minimal supervision
