TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION L256 Material/Process Inspector I or II (Pharr District Lab) in Pharr, Texas

Performs advanced material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and/or at points of supply. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential Duties:Material/Process Inspector ICoordinates test and inspection results with engineers, inspectors and material producers and suppliers.Observes tests and inspections and reviews reports from other inspectors; performs quality assurance for tests and inspectionsPrepares and maintains inspection or test reports and issues material reports.Conducts nuclear density tests on subgrade, base and asphaltic concrete pavement.Maintains and calibrates equipment.Performs construction inspection.Performs tests and inspection duties.Reports test results to field construction personnel and may assist in determining cause for material problems.Secures, logs in and prepares samples of raw materials or manufactured materials at various stages of production for testing.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Material/Process Inspector IIHandles problem calls from producers, suppliers, inspectors and construction project field personnel.Conducts nuclear density tests on subgrade, base and asphaltic concrete pavement.Conducts pavement evaluations in the field.Conducts safety and/or employee forum meetings.Coordinates test and inspection results with engineers, inspectors and material producers and suppliers.Maintains and calibrates equipment.Performs construction inspection.Performs tests and inspection duties.Reviews plans and material specifications for changes in material requirements.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
