The Role

As part of our growing team based in Perth, we are looking for a Transport industry professional who wants to grow with us and play an integral part in reshaping our business. As a Senior Design Manager, you will have exposure to every stage of the project cycle from winning work and leading bids through to design delivery and execution. Your transport infrastructure design expertise and multidisciplinary management skills will be key in shaping our capability, one that is renowned for achieving exceptional outcomes and providing clients with sound engineering advice.

Responsibilities:

  • Design Management, Design reviews of transport infrastructure projects

  • Identify value-adds, innovations and other points of difference that KBR can deliver or develop further and connect these with KBR’s clients via regular discussion / engagement.

  • Client relationship management, pursuit planning and bid/tender support

  • Form and nurture relationships within the market to support development of new and ongoing repeat work for the business

  • Involvement in early-game positioning and complete pre-tender plans so as to improve the company’s probability of success prior to the tender brief arriving (via points of differences and value-adds).

  • Project delivery and engineering excellence

  • Accountable, typically as a Design manager/Project leader, for the successful project delivery of KBR’s contracted services to the client against cost, time, and quality objectives

  • Work closely with the client and internal staff to effectively manage expectations, contract compliance, and Design criteria and achieve compliance with KBR systems and processes

  • Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team (both internal KBR disciplines as well as external sub-consultant partners)

Qualifications and Experience

  • A solid track record and demonstrated experience within the Transport Infrastructure sector, preferably in WA

  • Road or rail design experience will be highly regarded.

  • Strong technical design ability

  • Degree qualified and CPEng (or eligible to attain)

  • Significant experience in an engineering consulting environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience in developing, managing, and maintaining positive industry relationships that result in opportunities converted into projects

  • Strong client contacts within the road and rail sector

  • Strong stakeholder management skills

  • Working knowledge of commercial arrangements and relationships

  • Strong practical knowledge of and commitment to health and safety
