We’re looking for an Energy Analyst based in Perth, WA.

Purpose:

The Energy Analyst plays a pivotal role in our Energy Services Team with a strong focus on providing analytic support and services to the team.

This role will have you collaborating with cross-functional teams und undertaking a range of analytical tasks to ensure the team has access to the most accurate information not limited to customers’ electricity consumption profiles, power generation operating costs, performance of solar farms, counterparty risk, and country risks.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support opportunity development via project-based techno-economic modelling.

  • Perform system simulations and modelling of hybrid projects based on specified customer requirements.

  • Provide supporting analysis and contribution to the identification of risks and mitigation or management strategies to maximise the potential of contract award.

  • Undertake credit assessments of potential customers including assessment of the viability of their projects and ability to pay.

  • Assist in analysing and providing information for weekly/monthly/yearly reports on the activity and performance of contracts.

  • Ownership and responsibility of the forecasting/budget model capturing the revenue, operating costs, and Capex for the Energy Services business.

  • Develop close relations with Finance to ensure the Energy Services team forecasting model is correctly applied during the budget and forecasting process.

  • Provide ongoing analysis and recommendations in relation to research undertaken regarding country risk, political risk, currency, tax treatments, special renewable energy financing opportunities or initiatives to assist with the evaluation and pricing of opportunities.

  • Assist with pricing opportunities for tenders and provide analytical, modelling and data management support to the team.

  • Regularly check and update inputs for pricing models and document relevant changes.

  • Quality assurance – Checking supply demand balance and renewable energy data output from multiple sources to ensure data accuracy.

  • Provide recommendations to improve the availability, quality, reliability, and security of program data including assisting with data management and documentation/version control, etc.

Experience/Skill set required:

  • Proven commercial/analytical experience within the thermal, hybrid, renewable or battery storage sector.

  • An understanding or the ability to understand the key drivers that impact the cost of energy.

  • Knowledge of key energy market mechanisms.

  • Responsive and customer focused with a commitment to meet deadlines.

  • Personal ability to collaborate, support and influence a diverse range of people, including customers, partners, and colleagues.

  • Organisational skills required to operate successfully in a dynamic, complex, and high-pressure business.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and persuasively.

  • Ability to influence, engage and build trust with teams and stakeholders, while managing your time and workload.

Education:

  • Degree qualified in Commerce, Maths, Accounting, Economics, or Finance

  • An understanding of key Accounting and Finance concepts.

  • Financial modelling experience utilising Excel.

  • Renewable energy knowledge.
