Position Information Position Title Adjunct Nonprofit Certificate Faculty 2024-2025 (Professional and Continuing Education) Job Summary This is a part-time faculty position in the school of Professional and Continuing Education at The Evergreen State College. The Evergreen State College seeks a part-time faculty member with professional experience in nonprofit administration who is interested in teaching Introduction to the Nonprofit Sector and/or Nonprofit Leadership and Management, both of which are part of the Certificate of Nonprofit Administration in Evergreen's school of Professional and Continuing Education. The successful candidate(s) for this position will teach nonprofit administration online at the undergraduate level. Introduction to the Nonprofit Sector will explore differences between the nonprofit and the for-profit and public sectors. This course provides students with an overview of critical issues pertaining to the nonprofit sector in an era when nonprofits continue to rely heavily on volunteers, face increased pressure from funders, and seek to make their workforces more professional. Nonprofit Leadership and Management will explore the multitude of challenges to leaders of today's nonprofits. The course focus should be on expanding students' management skills and analytical tools for good management of nonprofit financials, human resources, marketing, and technology and board relations. The school for Professional and Continuing Education provides transformative education for part time students, working adults, and lifelong learners. Drawing on Evergreen's tradition of innovative curricular design and collaborative learning communities, it offers bachelor's degree curriculum and certificates that combine theory with practice to help students achieve academic goals, advance their careers, and create a better world. Job Expectations The part-time faculty member hired for this position is expected to teach the fall quarter 2024 four-credit online synchronous course, Introduction to the Nonprofit Sector and/or the winter 2025 four-credit course online synchronous course, Nonprofit Leadership and Management. Both courses are part of the Certificate in Nonprofit Administration offered in Evergreen's school for Professional and Continuing education. The online class sessions will be held one night a week (TBD) starting at 6 pm. This is an adjunct faculty position and is not eligible for continuing appointment. All requirements for these positions must be completed at the time of hire. Salary for all positions is based on experience and degrees (see for more information). We do not offer relocation expenses for our adjunct faculty positions. The Evergreen State College offers full-time programs during the day and courses and half-time programs during evening hours and on weekends, and remotely in Professional and Continuing Education. The curriculum in Professional and Continuing Education is based on certificate and degree completion programs and includes 2-credit, 4-credit, and 8-credit offerings, normally planned at a 25:1 student to faculty ratio, and capstone work including undergraduate research or internships and individual study.
