The Role

The Shop Technician I primarily works in the shop making repairs to equipment as required.

Pay Starts at $21.00. Can be adjusted with experience.

Schedule: 8am-5pm Monday through Friday with the opportunity for overtime. On-call periods will be required.

What you will do:

  • Provide our customers with excellent engineering solutions through our products and superior customer service

  • Effectively demonstrate the core values of SPM Oil & Gas at all times

  • Assemble and break down, clean new or used equipment, inspect, repair and test grease and paint equipment

  • Read and follow standard operating procedures

  • Execute general shop maintenance such as cleanup of the shop, work area, and equipment

  • Perform shipping and receiving responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the safety of self and others including reporting of all work-related injuries, near misses, equipment damage and unsafe acts to supervisor or senior technician as soon as practicable

  • Troubleshoot, repair, reassemble and test equipment based on customer communications

  • Operate, handle, and lift shop equipment and tools and products that weigh up to 50 lbs.

  • Maintain SPM Oil & Gas company supplied assets and any other equipment, including site specific equipment, as it relates to company policy

  • Maintain a professional appearance and work attitude at all times

  • Demonstrate the ability to perform independently or in a team setting

  • Available on 24-hour call to respond to customer needs on special occurrences

  • Follow all written policies and procedures safely without deviation or refer to upper management for guidance

  • Exhibit and advocate exemplary safety culture at all times

  • Exhibit a high degree of integrity at all times

  • Adhere to and exercise Stop Work Authority and Management of Change

  • Performs other duties as assigned

What you will have:

  • Three to six months of equivalent work experience or training

  • Demonstrate consistency, accountability, reliability, and solid work ethic

  • Working knowledge of oil and gas equipment

  • Previous experience with hand tools, power tools and air tools

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear

  • Required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

  • Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the department

Work Environment:

  • Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions

  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration

  • Noise Level: Moderate
