ZF North America, Inc. Sr. Technical Project Engineer in Northville, Michigan

Job Duties: 

job duties: Responsible to develop projects per requirements of the ZF modular system and customer requirements in accordance with ZF GDPEP and DOORS tracking; Coordinate internally (within ZF) and externally (with customer(s)) regarding technical details of product development project(s); Approve technical implementation of products; Coordinate project tasks with customer and delegate tasks to project members; Oversee development budget & spending, working closely with controlling to achieve execution excellence; Coordinate with project management to define & achieve project milestones & budget; Implement project in the customer schedule according to requirements, considering quality & costs; Coordinate tasks across cross-functional development team; Support continuous improvement programs; Enter, track problems within ClearCase to adhere to ASPICE standards; Develop product according to system engineering process & customer requirements, inclu. ISO26262 and IATF16949; Plan & track system release activities; Monitor & report project progress; Coordinate tasks of involved engineering related divisions and ensure fulfillment of engineering quality gates; Coordinating system requirements management; Coordinate & participate in engineering-related customer project communication; Manage risks in context of system engineering process; Participate in creation of system FMEA; and participate in safety relevant projects (inclu., participate in defining safety goals & functional safety concept; support implementation of functional safety-related work products). A hybrid (in-office and telecommute) work schedule is available. Position requires up to 30% travel to domestic and international locations for visits to ZF sites and customer sites to attend to project escalation topics.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechatronic Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field. We will accept a Bachelor's degree equivalency earned through any suitable combination of education and experience, as determined by a professional evaluation service. Position also requires 4 years of experience in engineering occupations in a mechatronic field, and demonstrated experience with: Complex systems, including software design, hardware design, validation, and mechanical design; Virtualization and simulation of a product; Lean-validation with a virtual product release process; AIAG standards; IATF standards, including IATF 16949; Autonomous vehicle requirements standards, including IEC 61508 and ISO26262; International product safety validation and product liability requirements; Budgeting; Matlab; Simulink; Rational SW (ClearCase and DOORS); and Requirements Management.
