Description

As an Engineering Manager, You will be leading a team of 8- 10 experienced and talented engineers and will provide Leadership to team to support the engineering activities in Payment Services Team.

You will be responsible for below items grouped under the required skill areas :

1. Technical Expertise

• Able to speak on behalf of the team in technical matters.

• Accountable for the team’s technical decisions.

• Enforce engineering best practices and behaviors (i.e. documentation, automation, code management, security principles)

2. Management Skills

• Foster culture of service ownership and drives team engagement

• Drive succession planning

• Drive engineering efficiency and developer experience (data driven)

• Show a growth mindset and be able to understand and drive change

• Actively seek opportunities for the team to grow within and across the organization

3. Coaching Skills

• Grow and develop team technically

• Provide strong and actionable feedback

4. Execution Skills

• Effectively manages work and capacity of the team, sets priorities, manages risks and tradeoffs

• Understand big picture, business need, aligns work with strategic direction of the company

• Have a clear understanding of engineering excellence and demonstrate it

• Demonstrate service ownership (understands cost of their service, service impacts, how to manage in production)

• Effectively collaborate with stakeholders (Product, TPM, Security, Cloud, and others)

Qualifications

12+ years of experience in software engineering at minimum

• 3+ years of experience in managing engineering teams at minimum in an environment with rapidly changing priorities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Works well independently and as part of a team

• Fluency in engineering methodologies, SDLC etc. Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment is a must.

• Strong hold on SAAS, Microservices and Event driven architecture concepts with understanding of Observability platforms.

• Great understanding of continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery process (CI/CD).

• Partnership and stakeholder management skills. Working closely with Product and leadership

•Experience of managing projects involving SQL server/MongoDB and database designs

• Good understanding of Unit Testing processes, Test automation etc

• Good experience working on JIRA/Confluence and other Project Management tools.
