Your Team & Role
As an Infrastructure Administration Engineer on the Networking team you will partner with product owners, tech leads, designers, software engineers and delivery professionals to provide effective database administration for IBM DB2 databases that support important customer facing applications. You will design, develop, and deploy infrastructure-as-code (IAC) to automate IBM DB2 Database patching, upgrades, and maintenance to solve sophisticated business problems, deploy innovative products, services, and experiences to delight our customers! In addition to applied technical expertise and experience, you will bring excellent problem solving, communication and teamwork skills, along with agile ways of working, strong business insight, an inclusive leadership attitude and a continuous learning focus.
Here is What You Can Expect on a Typical Day
Install network cables and network punch downs/cross connects.
Access equipment/cables in locations (IDF/MDF Closets, Confined spaces, on ladders, on roof, in basement)
Escorting Vendors throughout campus
Monitor and maintain Cisco Catalyst backbone and Cisco Routers in all corporate offices.
Aid in the support of a large WAN utilizing circuits from AT&T, Verizon, and other carriers
Aid in the support and continued improvements to the companys routing infrastructure, which currently includes BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF
Submit network connectivity specifications and offer recommendations.
Provide technical leadership for assigned network projects, which may include equipment ordering, testing, troubleshooting, installation, and implementation/Assistance of upgrades or configurations.
Communicate network status and provide quality documentation.
Establish/maintain a project schedule in coordination with the managements expectations.
Attend daily/weekly meetings and interact regularly with management, employees, and vendors to constantly improve services.
Bring an understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, begin to identify opportunities to provide feedback to the team, and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day
Work on problems of diverse scope in which analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
The Skills & Expertise You Bring
Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering or experience in related fields
Leverage diverse ideas, experiences, thoughts and perspectives to the benefit of the organization
Knowledge of business concepts tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business
Ability to learn new skills and knowledge on an on-going basis through self-initiative and tackling challenges
Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills
Knowledge/Understanding of the following:
Ability to lift boxes/equipment at least 40lbs.
Familiar with the installation of Cisco equipment in a rack.
Knowledge of how to apply base configuration to cisco router.
Troubleshooting skills on Cisco router and switches (ports/interfaces)
Knowledge of cable testing tools (ie. Fluke)
Knowledge of Cisco Wireless troubleshooting
This position requires employee to be onsite in Newark, NJ 5 days a week with the ability to work nights and weekends for either planned or on-call rotations.
Preferred Qualifications
Financial/Insurance industry experience is a plus, not a must
