ABOUT US:
The revival of the Dew Drop Inn Hotel and Lounge brings the restoration and re-opening of the historic New Orleans music venue and hotel that once hosted such icons as Ray Charles and Little Richard, and local legends like Allen Toussaint and Irma Thomas. The Souths swankiest night spot.
DUTIES: - Set-up and Operate sound and stage lighting equipment for live events, performances, recordings, and broadcasts - Collaborate with producers, directors, and performers to determine sound requirements - Conduct professional sound-checks and adjust levels and settings as necessary - Mix and balance audio during live events and recordings, operate stage lights for performances
Set and Operate all stage lighting for all performances and events; there is no separate lighting tech
Tech Advance all performances with artists in tandem with booker/program director
Responsible for maintenance and evaluation of all venue sound and lighting equipment ongoing
- Troubleshoot technical issues with sound equipment, research best repair solutions
- Edit and enhance audio recordings using software such as Pro Tools, Avid, Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut Pro
Assist with post-production tasks such as syncing audio with video and adding sound effects
Train and Schedule all other part-time and support A/V techs.
Source, Price, Order supplemental Backline as needed for touring acts and special annual programming, develop working relationships with backline and other gear providers and repair professionals
Mentor and Train DDI's A/V tech apprentices as assigned The Dew Drop Inn Revival will host a young persons A/V Tech apprenticeship program in partnership with local community non-profit organizations, and as a requirement of this role, you will be expected to enthusiastically train and mentor 2 intern apprentices, as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: - Proven minimum 5 years experience as a n A-1 or Lead Sound Engineer or similar role - Cursory knowledge or better of film and video broadcast/production processes - Proficiency in using software for audio recording and post-production - Familiarity with signal processing techniques and equipment - Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, particularly with Artists and FandB staff - Excellent communication skills; verbal, text, and email
- Willingness and Ability to mentor and train young aspiring A/V Techs who are enrolled in DDI's tech apprenticeship program as assigned
PLUSES:
Sound and/or Lighting Engineering Certificates are a plus, and compensation will be commensurate with certifications and experience
Professional experience and familiarity with basic small-medium size indoor venue stage lighting systems
Audio Recording and/or Broadcasting Experience
Candidates born/raised in New Orleans will be prioritized, along with those who have been New Orleans residents for more than 3 years, thereby already having familiarity with many local artists, bands, DJs, and the working and musical culture of New Orleans
Candidates with a proven knowledge of the deep musical and cultural history of the Dew Drop Inn Hotel and Lounge on LaSalle Street will be prioritized.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
