Google Wireless Systems Engineer in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience working in a hardware engineering technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

  • Experience with wireless chipset development or chipset integration in consumer electronics.

  • Familiarity with Python or equivalent programming language, particularly for automation.

  • Familiarity with networking protocols and networking software.

  • Familiarity with wireless regulations (e.g., power limits and specific absorption rate (SAR)).

  • Familiarity with lab equipment (e.g., spectrum/network analyzers, callboxes).

This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Design, specify, test, and optimize devices and services products. Understand wireless technologies and protocols, how those technologies are integrated in a consumer electronics device, and deliver wireless performance.

  • Understand wireless technologies and protocols, such as WiFi, Bluetooth, UWB, Cellular and help evaluate new technologies and features (ranging, radar and more).

  • Validate hardware design and end-to-end wireless performance in devices with a focus on scalability to support a growing product portfolio.

  • Perform competitive analysis of wireless technologies from different vendors.

  • Work with cross-functional hardware and software teams to debug and optimize end-to-end wireless performance.
