Assistant Manager
Monday - Friday
7:00am - 3:30pm
SUMMARY:
The Assistant Manager assists with the day-to-day Whole Blood Center operation and staff support. Additionally, this position is responsible for filling the role of the Center Manager in her/his absence.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Daily:
Supports the center staff with questions, concerns and/or other needs.
Performs all production area job descriptions as required/assigned and maintains certifications in all production job positions.
Assists with employee training, if approved as a Training Monitor.
Performs all job duties in a safe manner and uses required personal protective equipment.
Enforces all safety procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and Company policies.
Performs specific routine duties, as assigned by the Center Manager.
Assists with troubleshooting and/or implementing corrective action, as necessary.
Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company policies.
Frequently:
Assumes the responsibilities of the Center Manager in his/her absence.
Performs other duties as required/assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent, required
Some college level course work in business, sciences or medical field is a plus
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or the biological sciences is preferred
Two years supervisory experience is preferred; experience working with the community/public
Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Safe Operating Procedures, Safety Data Sheets and Biohazardous Waste
Must have above average problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Must be self-directed and highly-motivated
Must have excellent analytical skills, organization skills, and follow-up
Ability to effectively manage staff and maintain positive relationships with all levels of employees
Experience in an FDA-regulated industry is preferred
Must have explicit attention to detail; Quality Assurance background is a plus
Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within Interstate Blood Bank, Inc. and provide excellent customer service
Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments
Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to analyze situations and respond in a timely manner
Ability to participate in multi-functional teams and work in production areas

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from regional managers, employees, suppliers, and external customers
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to perform mathematical operations using units of US dollars, weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Ability to understand and calculate deferral periods and sample periods.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to apply instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables in complex situations.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Travel is negligible
Daily attendance is required
