Design Engineer (Electrical)

DESIGN ENGINEERING SUPPORT:

Provide electrical design engineering expertise to support system design and performance analyses for facility and infrastructure projects across the Center.

a) Provide low voltage and medium voltage design capability, providing specifications and designs utilizing the most recent versions of computer aided design software such as MicroStation® or AutoCAD®.

Provide broad engineering support for assigned designs/projects, regardless of engineering discipline.

a) Assist in developing/refining the requirements for institutional projects (implemented by a NASA contractor) with scope that involves design and/or construction.

b) Develop customer discretionary Requirements Definition Agreements (RDAs) which contain at a minimum, the purpose, major objectives, project scope, related items not in scope, system impacts, operational constraints, and risks.

c) Participate in project site walkdowns and Project Scoping Agreements (PSAs).

d) Support the Project Manager (PM) in developing the Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCEs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Technical Evaluations.

e) Review designs submitted by a NASA contractor to ensure accuracy, applicability, and maintainability.

f) Review submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs).

g) Provide design consultation services during the execution phase of projects.

Requirements

Experience must be relevant with at least five years in the area of expertise. BS (mandatory in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering) with no equivalent time in service for a degree and 12 years’ experience or MS (same degrees) and 10 years’ experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and twelve (12) to fifteen (15) years of related experience; depending upon engineering discipline, a combination of vocational and/or military certifications plus three (3) to five (5) years’ experience may be substituted for degree.
