Your role: As a Foreign News Reporter at The Sun, you will be at the forefront of our international news coverage. You will be responsible for identifying, researching, and reporting on significant global events, trends, and issues. Your reporting will bring the world closer to our readers, providing them with an in-depth understanding of the complexities and nuances of international affairs.

Day to day you will:

  • Identify and report on breaking news and major events from various international locations.

  • Produce well-researched, accurate, and engaging news stories, features, and analyses.

  • Conduct interviews with key figures, experts, and eyewitnesses.

  • Collaborate with editors and other reporters to develop comprehensive coverage plans.

  • Use multimedia tools to enhance storytelling, including video, audio, and social media.

  • Be comfortable working across platforms, including appearing on camera.

  • Have an instinct for how to ‘sell’ a digital story to get maximum impact on The Sun’s platforms and also on social media.

  • Maintain a network of sources and contacts within the assigned region.

  • Travel frequently to cover stories on the ground, sometimes on short notice.

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Experience reporting at a national news organisation OR experience reporting at local news level.

  • A working knowledge of the IPSO Code of Conduct, media law and ethical considerations.

  • Knowledge of social media, SEO and online publishing.

  • Excellent writing skills, especially the ability to bring vibrancy and clarity to articles with very tight deadlines.

  • An understanding of The Sun brand, both in print and digital.
