Position Overview

We are seeking a Clay Sculptor - Automotive Surfacer within the Innovation & Design Center to join our team at Navistar! In this role, you will work in the Design group at Navistar’s Headquarters. You will work on conceptual exteriors & interiors.

Responsibilities

• Mentoring

• Learning new working procedures and processes

• Capable of developing one-third scale and full-size models from design sketches and CAD drawings

• Work within timelines and deliverables

• Build exterior & interior armatures and mock-ups from steel, foam, wood, and clay

• Contribute to team efforts with cost reduction and finding latest technology trends while maintaining the integrity of the product

• Work directly with designers, CAD sculptors and engineers

• Read engineering drawings

• Able to assist studio personnel in developing solutions to engineering, color & trim and design problems

• Support scanning of models and parts

• Support Tarus mill set-ups

• Support health & safety within the studio area

• Physical Demands – Must be able to lift or move seventy pounds and able to stand for extended periods of time

• Automotive painting

• MIG and TIG welding

• Sheet fabrication

Minimum Requirements

• Associate’s degree

• At least 3 years of automotive clay sculpting experience

OR

• At least 5 years of automotive clay sculpting experience

Additional Requirements

• Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

• 3-axis & 5-axis Tarus mill programming with NX Siemens, Aldebaran TPI CAM and SPUD

• Fiberglass molds and resin casting

• Effective communication skills
