About the opportunities

As part of the Instrumentation Engineering team, you will be involved in the design, specification and services relating to Instrumentation Engineering for projects relating to hydrocarbon and Energy Transition projects. This may be a conceptual study or front-end engineering design (FEED) or an EPC / detailed design execution involving the procurement of all equipment and detailed drawings for the construction and commissioning of an entire facility. There will be a focus within the design on safety, reliability, and quality at all stages of the projects. You will be involved in various project stages from concept to detailed design through to construction, testing and handover which may be offshore or onshore - greenfield or brownfield, refining, hydrogen, renewables to name a few.

What you will be doing:

Working in a multi-disciplinary project team, which is likely to include people from other specialism’s including process, mechanical and electrical engineering and will liaise with clients and contractors as required, you will be responsible for study, design, specification and services related to process systems including instrumentation, control systems and process control.

You will perform specific and well-defined assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles with support from your lead engineer using your judgment in making selections and adaptation of engineering alternatives. You will be asked to attend meetings, write reports and giving presentations on the work you are completing.You will be responsible for the instrumentation systems design, specification, selection, vendor drawing reviews and testing services relating to energy transition. Detailed knowledge of P&ID development and instrumentation is essential as is a good working knowledge of industry standards for instrumentation equipment.

The required competency and skills would typically have been built up working for a consultant engineering company, equipment fabricator or end user company. Personnel would be expected to have a varied and extensive experience of instrumentation and control system applications in the onshore and offshore oil and gas project environment.

What You’ll Need:

  • Concept / FEED / EPC Instrumentation and Control system Engineering experience (Energy Transition Projects).

  • Interpreting P&I Drawings and / or creating or checking loop diagrams, schematics or other field instrumentation drawings.

  • Managing instrumentation and control interfaces between packages Control systems.

  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards

  • Knowledge of any instrumentation database e.g., SPI, Aveva is desirable.

  • Interpersonal skills and the effective interaction with others.

  • Written and spoken communication and be able to use a range of standard software such as MS Word and MS Excel to prepare technical documents and to write technical reports.

  • Bachelors/master's degree in an Electrical or Instrumentation and Controls.

  • Engineering subject with relevant industry experience.

  • Member of a relevant professional body.
