Michael Baker International seeks a Mechanical Engineer II for our West Mechanical Team within the Sustainable and Resilient Solutions (SRS) vertical. This person will lead HVAC/plumbing design projects with the support of junior staff in producing design documents, specifications, and written studies. This person will act as a technical resource to the entire team on HVAC and plumbing engineering matters. This individual will also support proposal pursuits; project types include Federal-DoD, Federal-Civilian, Federal-DoE, and Commercial projects as required by the department's workload. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following provides more detail regarding the duties of this position: Be a resource for peers and junior staff on technical questions. Review scope of work, create pricing and technical documents, and develop fee estimates for proposal pursuits. Provide training on specific topics to members of the team. Lead HVAC and plumbing design projects as designer of record (DOR). Regularly perform technical analysis and calculations. Responsible for maintaining client satisfaction and high-quality scores (CPARS). Satisfy project requirements by ensuring that quality standards, schedules, and budgets are met. Provide guidance by mentoring and motivating staff on issues such as technical design questions, budget, schedule, task management, and client relations. Clearly convey information to internal and external clients. Adhere to budget and schedule of projects. Assist with defining scope of work and man-hour estimates. Participate in internal and external technical development planning and activities. Perform internal technical reviews (ITRs) on peer design projects. Work with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical designs with other building systems. Field survey existing equipment. Stay knowledgeable of trends and current developments within the HVAC/plumbing engineering field(s). Other duties as assigned by management.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS The following provides a list of professional qualifications and skills for this position: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering (Mechanical Focus) required. PE license required. LEED AP, CPD, and/or CEM credentials are recognized, but not required. 15+ years of related professional experience is required. 5+ years of DoD experience is preferred. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and controls design required. Extensive experience with technical writing is required. Strong knowledge of IMC, IBC, and other applicable codes, as well as design manuals and standards relating to mechanical and plumbing engineering is required. Familiarity with Unified Facility Criteria (UFC) applicable to mechanical and plumbing engineering is preferred. Familiarity with Unified Facility Guide Specifications (UFGS) applicable to mechanical and plumbing engineering is preferred.

COMPENSATION The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $174.000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
