Senior UX Designer

Work Mode: Hybrid

Location: Hybrid at one of our design studios in Kohler, WI; Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC or New York, NY

Opportunity

We are looking for an innovative, expansive problem solver to provide both inspiration and leadership to the UX/UI team and drive great user experience in both physical and digital solutions for Kitchen and Bath space.

The IOT is one of the biggest revolutions since the Internet was invented and has become the foundation to support Kohler’s strategic approach toward “Smart Home” arena. Our customers from both residential and commercial segments desire smart solutions with leading-edge innovations to make their life, work, and business easier.

As a senior UX designer, you will be primarily responsible for guiding and leading the development of Kohler Smart Home user experience for both new and existing product categories. You will work directly with different category teams to design the physical and digital experience and drive the cross-category design consistency.

In this role, you will interact with new product development (NPD) teams on UXUI design. From upfront market strategies/ user research, experience ideation to design evaluation and user/ field testing. Continue to create, build, and improve the experience conventions through agile iterations and analytic results. The goal is to deliver great products and services to improve the level of gracious living for our customer’s homes and their lifestyles.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Senior UX/UI work through research and user centered design process to deliver leading edge experiences

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and external consultants to define and implement innovative solutions

  • Expert in UX/UI design methods, able to leverage user centered design tools and process to guide and communicate with key stakeholders and global teams

  • Proficient with design software such as Adobe CC; UX/UI development and prototyping tools such as Figma

  • Practical knowledge and understanding of digital technologies. Experience with an IoT ecosystem and product developments is a plus

  • Continually work and feed core team with latest UX/UI trends, techniques, and technologies

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college of design with academic emphasis in UX/UI design, human centered design, or a related discipline

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in a UX/UI design role with strong digital portfolio

  • Experience in leading UX/UI projects and initiatives independently

  • Strong portfolio of applying user-centered design practices in physical and digital product design

  • Skills in understanding and synthesizing user needs through methods like contextual inquiry, persona development, participatory design and other design research methods

  • Skills in evaluating concepts and products using heuristic reviews, formative and summative usability studies

  • Excellent communication, presentation, storyboarding, and negotiation skills

  • Demonstrate aptitude for ongoing learning and application of newly acquired knowledge

  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with the ability to maintain a positive attitude under pressure

  • A self-starter and be able to work independently and follow directions with proven skill in organization, planning, attention to detail, follow-through, and follow-up

The salary range for this position is $117,000 - $149,500. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
