Job Summary:

Participates in day-to-day purchasing activities and transactions while seeking savings opportunities. Analyzes purchase requisitions and makes purchase decisions in accordance with company procedures. Provides exceptional customer service across the organization.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Places orders to procure requisitioned items or services. Follows requisitions through process to ensure completion. Ensures accuracy in record keeping and daily management of purchase orders and deliveries. Solves problems with orders in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Collaborates with department managers to clarify purchase requisitions, identify departmental needs and refine specifications for future purchase orders.

  • Follows up on overdue and back-ordered supplies and communicates with requester on delays in obtaining supplies. Offers substitute products when applicable.

  • Follows proper channels to obtain purchase authorization according to company policy.

  • Works with accounts payable, vendors and receiving personnel to resolve invoice matching errors and ensure invoices are processed accurately and efficiently.

  • Solicits, receives and analyzes quotes and proposals and selects the best value supplier. As appropriate, negotiates terms and conditions to include quality, price, delivery and warranty.

  • Assists in maintaining database integrity.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

EXPERIENCE

  • Three years' experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Rare climbing.
