About the role:

At Caterpillar Reman, we're passionate about using data to revolutionize the reman industry. Join our talented team in Mossville, IL or Dallas, TX as a Data Scientist and play a key role in developing innovative solutions that drive growth and efficiency. In this role, you'll leverage your expertise in Python, Azure DevOps, AWS, Kedro, and Power BI/Streamlit to build robust and sustainable data pipelines. You'll create insightful dashboards, implement Machine Learning models, and streamline data workflows using Agile methodologies. We're looking for a highly motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative environment. You'll have the opportunity to partner with various teams across the Reman business, gaining a deep understanding of our operations and technical landscape. Your insights will be instrumental in shaping data-driven decision making for division leadership.

Job responsibilities will Include but are not limited to:

  • Analyze business requirements, both independently and as a part of a team, and lead the development of actionable data solutions through collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain Python code adhering to high coding standards, utilizing Git version control for efficient collaboration and comprehensive documentation for code clarity.

  • Develop compelling and informative data visualizations using Power BI, or other Visualization tools, to translate insights into actionable strategies for performance monitoring and effective communication across the organization.

  • Directing the data gathering, data mining, and data processing processes in huge volume; creating appropriate data models.

  • Exploring, promoting, and implementing semantic data capabilities through Natural Language Processing, text analysis and machine learning techniques.

  • Leading to define requirements and scope of data analyses, presenting and reporting possible business insights to management using data visualization technologies.

  • Conducting research on data model optimization and algorithms to improve effectiveness and accuracy on data analyses.

  • Business Statistics: Working Knowledge of the statistical tools, processes, and practices to describe business results in measurable scales; ability to use statistical tools and processes to assist in making business decisions.

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Extensive Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

  • Analytical Thinking: Working Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

  • Machine Learning: Working Knowledge of principles, technologies, and algorithms of machine learning; ability to develop, implement and deliver related systems, products and services.

  • Programming Languages: Working Knowledge of basic concepts and capabilities of programming; ability to use tools, techniques, and platforms in order to write and modify programming languages.

  • Query and Database Access Tools: Working Knowledge of data management systems; ability to use, support and access facilities for searching, extracting, and formatting data for further use.

  • Requirements Analysis: Working Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience with building data pipelines using Python, utilizing Kedro, snowpark and sqlalchemy packages.

  • Experience with Git-based workflows and collaborative software development.

  • Prior experience with Azure Build Pipelines (or similar CI/CD tool) with a willingness to learn Azure specifically.

Additional Information:

  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this role.

  • The primary location for this role is Mossville, Illinois, but can be located in Dallas, Texas or within a 50-mile radius of a United States Caterpillar facility.
