Robert Half Staff Accountant in Houston, Texas

Description We are seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for various accounting tasks, including month-end close, audit preparation, reconciliations, payroll, and heavy use of Excel. This position offers a short-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting

• Prepare for audits by organizing necessary documents and information

• Perform reconciliations of financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information

• Utilize Excel for various financial tasks and reporting

• Manage payroll functions ensuring efficient systems, process and controls

• Utilize Financial Edge Blackbaud software for various accounting tasks

• Contribute to a team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

• Leverage Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT skills to enhance accounting procedures and tasks

• Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. Requirements • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role.

• Must have proficiency in using Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT software.

• Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.

• Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.

• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to identify errors.

• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

• Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
