Position Summary

Participate in driving the design and development of professional and intuitive UI/UX for a successful web application.

This position may be located in San Diego, CA or Houston, TX.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL

  • Lead design sessions and compose professional interfaces that adhere to requirements

  • Translate designs into functional, well-written, and reusable web components

  • Style web app to be visually appealing, intuitive, responsive, and consistent throughout

  • Work with a team of PMs, BAs, QA, and developers to collaborate on requirements and bring your vision to life

  • Develop and maintain front-end Unit and/or Functional Tests

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience

  • At least 5 years software development experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience with modern front-end frameworks/libraries (and some older ones too) (e.g React, Angular, Vue, jQuery, D3)

  • Proficient in JavaScript, including recent specifications (ES2015+)

  • Proficient in HTML and CSS

  • Proficient with responsive design

  • A portfolio showcasing some of your best work

  • Strong familiarity of design patterns

  • Strong written and oral communications skills (English)

  • Be a team player. Have opinions and listen to others.

  • Passionate about software development! Willing to learn and to help others.

DESIRED

  • Knowledge of the maritime industry a big plus

  • Exposure to Azure/AWS

  • Experience working within Scrum methodology

  • Experience with development lifecycle tools & processes such as source control (e.g., TFS, Git), build systems, branching & merging, and automated testing

  • Familiarity with .NET/C# web applications

  • Interest in other frameworks/platforms/runtimes (e.g. Node, Meteor, Rails)
