Honeywell Senior Director of Strategy - SETS in Houston, Texas

We have an opportunity for a Senior Director, Strategy Planning & M&A to join Smart Energy and Thermal Solutions (SETS) to drive our strategic transformation. In this role you will work closely with business leaders to drive our growth strategy across the industries that SETS serves. This role will engage cross-functionally and with Honeywell Senior Leadership to develop the SETS strategy. This role will work with Industry Marketing and Sales teams to translate global strategy into market-based commercial strategies and with the M&A team to originate and execute inorganic growth opportunities. This position reports directly into the Chief Strategy Officer, IA and dotted line into SETS President.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and foster SETS 3 -5 Year Strategic Plans(STRAP) building on a strong foundation and with growth rates material greater than the market

  • Translate 3-5 year strategy into executable operating plans

  • Champion the development of strategic business unit growth strategies (organic and inorganic) and establish strong M&A target pipeline and support development of that pipeline.

  • Work closely with SETS President & VPGMs to expand their core businesses, grow into adjacent spaces and establish new business models to drive growth.

  • Drive the growth of critical initiatives that are designed to diversify the industries served and establish a long term growth path for the business.

  • Develop frameworks to support identification, incubation, and assessment of critical growth initiatives to align with business goals

  • Proactively develop business opportunities, and lead investigation, design, and initial execution of those initiatives and other growth opportunities within the core business and key early stage startup opportunities

Develop and maintain a strategic plan for business growth including:

  • Portfolio analysis and assessment to identify revenue and growth plans by market and product segment.

  • Identification and evaluation of organic growth strategies by product line, globally.

  • Identification and evaluation of inorganic growth strategies including acquisitions, alliance, licensing, and partnership opportunities linked to the strategic plan.

  • Fact-based analysis of market trends; competitive data; technology advancements; and customer needs assessment and new product developments.

  • Provide near term tactical support to develop and deliver monthly reporting on key initiatives and strategy.

MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, economics or other highly analytical field is required

  • Advanced Degree in engineering, business, economics or other highly analytical field preferred

  • 10 years of Commercial, Business Management & Marketing experience or Consulting experience in an Industrial setting

  • Deep knowledge of the target markets specially the Utility Segment across Electricity, Gas and Water Utilities

  • Ability to communicate and execute across all levels in the organization - tailoring messages to C-Suite leaders.

  • Prior experience in strong technical fields such as energy, renewables, oil & gas and/or life sciences. Consulting background is a strong positive.

  • Demonstrated strong business sense with the leadership and functional ability to define and implement growth strategies and translate into practical actions and metric driven operating systems.

  • Success leading marketing, business development, sales and new offering development teams and projects; preferably with prior P&L experience

  • Strong team building and problem solving skills

  • Significant experience leading multiple, complex projects with changing priorities

  • Ability to forge solid relationships and lead across a broad and geographically dispersed business

  • Effectively demonstrates ability to deliver on complex situations or problems without guidance or supervision

  • Consistently makes timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
