Global Head of Power & Renewables Research

About the Role:

The Team:

The Gas, Power, and Climate Solutions (GPCS) group is an integral part of S&P Global Commodity Insights. This group includes research on power and renewables, clean technology, natural gas/LNG/hydrogen, climate and energy scenarios and energy transition.

Responsibilities and Impact:

  • Leading and managing a team of senior research analysts and experts in delivering our core power market fundamentals forecasting contents.

  • Directing and overseeing advanced research and analysis activities associated with energy policies, fundamentals modelling, and analytics research, and issuing comprehensive research reports associated with these activities.

  • Collaborating closely with senior leaders in commercial, marketing, and product teams to strategically drive revenue growth for products associated with our power and renewables contents.

  • Playing a key role in maintaining and enhancing our industry thought leadership by actively engaging with customers and other stakeholders, leading high-level client meetings, delivering impactful presentations in industry events, and representing the company in various virtual and in-person venues.

Compensation/Benefits Information:

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years of extensive power and renewables experience in research institutions, consultancies, power utilities/generators, financial institutions, and/or government entities.

  • Proven track record in successfully leading and managing high-performing teams, demonstrating exceptional people management skills.

  • Exceptional organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Outstanding writing and communication skills, with the ability to produce concise reports and effectively present complex themes and insights to diverse clients and audiences.

  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic, with a strong drive to deliver thought-leading research and analytics. Possesses the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within teams.

  • Demonstrates creativity in generating innovative research ideas and developing new formats to deliver content to clients.

  • Proficient in functioning efficiently within a matrix organization, establishing informal internal relationships to facilitate collaboration and achieve shared goals.

  • Displays a keen interest in new technologies and delivery platforms, actively exploring different ways to effectively disseminate content.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or Master’s degree preferred (in Economics, Energy or Engineering) or equivalent experience
