Purpose of the Job

CBRE manages the maintenance of Client’s main UK Data Centre and is committed to the provision of an efficient and effective critical engineering maintenance service. The primary function is to ensure 100% uptime of engineering services to ensure there is zero impact to the client’s business operations.

  • To ensure satisfactory delivery of services against contractual terms and conditions, meeting and exceeding client expectations and ensuring the contractual commitments of CBRE are achieved.

  • To ensure all maintenance work is called out in accordance with client and company policies and procedures and within health and safety legislative requirements.

Key objectives of the role (Not exhaustive or necessarily in order of importance)

  • Undertake or oversee the maintenance or extra works on critical plant and equipment.

  • Follow safe systems of work and ensure all activities are carried out in full compliance with CBRE and client procedures.

  • Directly supervise and control subcontractor activities.

  • Comply with the customers RNOW change approval system.

  • Actively mitigate engineering risks through applying CERM methodologies.

  • Be proficient in the use and application of CERM Quantum.

  • Establish and develop trusting, meaningful relationships with the CBRE site engineering team, TET team, DCS and other client staff.

  • Willing to provide shift cover when requested and be flexible towards working hours, as dictated by site circumstances

  • Embrace cultural change. Implement safe working, compliance, quality standards and best practice methods.

  • Volunteer ideas/initiatives that contribute to continuous improvement and improved service levels.

  • Positive contribution to the “team” effort, with a “can do” attitude and raising of standards.

  • Undertake training as required by CBRE Managed Services.

  • Undertake other tasks, as required by the Contract Manager, in accordance with experience and competencies.

  • Managing the delivery of operational engineering processes which meet the Client’s needs for understanding risk management of their critical infrastructure.

  • Ensuring that internal clients and sponsors’ expectations for priority and delivery are well-managed, and that they remain well-appraised of the progress of their works.

  • Developing an appreciation by internal clients and sponsors of the work being undertaken and the risks and opportunities for the client's business.

Essential Education

  • Time served Electrical / Mechanical apprenticeship.

  • City & Guilds Electrical competency Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent.

  • Comprehensive building services knowledge in similar environments to a minimum of HVAC standards.

  • Good Customer relationship skills.

  • Working knowledge of “Permit to work” systems.

  • Experience of maintaining tight temperature and humidity control conditioned environments (BMS).

Desirable Education

  • Time served Electrical / Mechanical apprenticeship.

  • Previous Data Centre experience

  • HV switching qualification/experience.

  • 18th Edition IEE Regulations.

  • Experience of Microsoft Office applications.
