The Illustrator/Graphic Artist is responsible for conceptualizing and creating original images from engineering drawings, ideas, and concepts. The ideal candidate should have strong computer graphic software skills and have a fundamental knowledge of drawing and composition. The Illustrator/Graphic Artist must have excellent communication skills and be able to work within a team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conceptualize and create original images from engineering drawings, ideas, and concepts.
Design and develop graphics and illustrations for use in technical materials, manuals, and publications.
Operate computer hardware and software to prepare, revise, print and store text, illustrations, graphs, charts, etc.
May operate equipment, such as still and video cameras, for the design and production of photos and videotape.
Select type, draw lettering, lay out material, or perform related duties.
Determine style, technique, and medium best suited to produce desired effects and conform to reproduction requirements, or follows specific instructions regarding these variables.
Prepare engineering drawings, layout, and detailed design of mechanical systems using solid modeling techniques.
Manage complex models using multiple designers.
Convert 3D models between formats.
Interface with designers and draftsmen for the production of fabrication drawings.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Associates degree in Graphic Design/Art or a related field. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
One to three years of related graphic design/illustration experience.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as multimedia or 3D animation including Autodesk Maya or 3D StudioMax, and Abobe AfterEffects and Premier Pro.
Able to work closely with others and have excellent communication skills.
Able to work effectively within a group.
Excellent time management skills.
Able to work independently to develop original designs or modifications.
Flexible and open to making revisions to original artwork.
Must be able to obtain security clearance.
- Work experience with the US Department of Defense.
