Job Description Summary
The Mechanical Subsystem Engineering Leader has full responsibility for quality, performance, and execution of rotor components, tower components, repair & installation programs, and owns PDE for all of ONW Engineering. The leader ensures strong system integration and interactions between interfacing components and subsystems. Specific responsibilities include:

Essential Responsibilities
Develop the vision, set strategic priorities, and ensure priority alignment across the engineering community & cross-functional stakeholders
Drive a culture that ensures outstanding compliance and adherence to quality. Ensure subsystems and components deliver availability, reliability, and meet performance requirements. Partner with Chief Engineer and Engineering General Manager to build strong technical underwriting processes & culture
Drive a world class product quality culture. Ensure timely resolution of quality/performance issues and ensure operating mechanisms close the feedback loop
Partner with cross-functional partners to drive significant year over year product cost & repair and installation savings
Build systems mindset with component teams proposing alternative product requirement (where applicable), delivering strong interfaces between components & subsystems, and optimize for cost/quality/performance
Partner with field teams and design teams to deliver world class solutions for repair and installation programs
Develop investment strategy and execute testing and validation plans for a wide range of mechanical components and subsystems
Partner with Fleet Performance Management on timely and effective resolution of quality / performance issues
Build a strong team – attract, develop, and retain great talent. Create culture of empowerment, coaching, and talent development
Own a significant engineering operating and NPI investment budget
Ensure that teams share best practices, tools, and lessons learned
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or related discipline
Minimum of 5 years of managing engineering teams
Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% of the time
Desired Characteristics
Strong wind turbine mechanical design expertise
Strong technical experience including NPI design, NTI development, problem solving & RCA resolution, method/tool development, and related items. Excellent analytical skills
Strategic thinker – able to navigate complexity, develop clear actions, and communicate complex information in clear, concise manner
Demonstrated systems thinker: ability to assess tradeoffs, effectively assess risk, and optimize results
Effective coach, trusted mentor, and demonstrated ability to build high performing teams
Demonstrated ability to influence others and drive cross-functional teams to success
Takes action and manages conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment. Takes ownership of issues and drive solutions
Proven ability to drive process improvement, implement standard work, and utilize Lean operating practices
Master’s degree in Engineering, Marketing or Business Administration from an accredited college or university
