Weld County Government Public Works Engineering Technician I Inspections in Greeley, Colorado

Weld County Public Works is Hiring for an Engineering Technician I Inspections. This position is an entry level construction inspector and material tester. Technical adequacy of work is reviewed upon completion. Non-routine work may be reviewed in process by supervisor.

$27.36- $34.66 per hour plus benefits (See benefits tab on the job posting). The starting pay is $27.36 per hour.

This position is non-exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following job duties are established to outline the basic duties and responsibilities of the above captioned position. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Field Work (35%) - Aid in the management of various county construction projects. - Conduct field material property tests on and or collect representative samples of, aggregates, soils, asphalt, and concrete. - Candidate must maintain and properly store valuable county equipment, tools, and materials. - Must communicate efficiently and concisely utilizing verbal communication and written communication, including writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. - Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of construction materials and method variables in situations where limited standardization exists.

Laboratory Work (35%) - Perform specialized work of substantial variety and complexity. - Perform standardized property tests on aggregates, soils, asphalt, and concrete materials. - Maintain and properly store valuable county equipment, tools, and materials. - Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral formats. - Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratio, and proportions to practical situations.

Administrative (15%) - Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications. - Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. - Must perform work in a courteous and safe manner and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors, and the public. - Work assignments may include the application of business decision making related to construction documents, agreements, design, testing, and maintenance. - Assist with assignments requiring independent and individual contribution. - Effectively present information including field logs, inspection reports, and construction documents supervisors, management, staff, the public, contractors and/or elected officials. - Apply engineering techniques for design, testing and maintenance for work projects.

Other Duties as Assigned (15%) - Assist with snow desk operations and be available for alternating weekly on-call duties, fall through spring, as assigned. - Support emergency responses and be available to respond to and work extraordinary hours. - Additional overtime duties may be required. - Follow policies and procedures, the Weld County Code of Conduct and adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and appropriate release of information outlined in both. - Not all duties mentioned may be applicable to every position, and the examples provided do not encompass all possible duties that may exist within this job classification. - Percentages of time in the above job duty categories may fluctuate. - Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratio, and proportions to practical situations. Surveying requires demonstrated knowledge of coordinate geometry and mathematical understanding of horizontal and vertical curves.

Qualifications REQUIR D QUALIFICATIONS: - High School Diploma or GED, AND - Two years of experience in a civil construction or engineering work environment. - Post high school education may be substituted for work experience, with training in a specialty field. OR - Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Engineering/Construction Management field. OR - Bachelor's Degree with job knowledge may be substituted for the prior experience. OR - Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be accepted. - Candidate must pass a background check prior to employment start date. - Candidate must pass a substance use screening prior to employment start date. - Candidate must possess a valid driver's license by the employment start date... for full information follow application link.
