Robert Half has partnered with a reputable and well-respected department in the government sector to hire their next CFO! This CFO will report to a fantastic leader who has been with the organization for years and as CFO, you will lead the accounting and finance function. CPA is strongly preferred! We are seeking a CFO to be a strategic partner as part of the executive team, who has a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions, and who has experience managing and overseeing multiple departments. This role's duties will require leading with integrity and reliability and having the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability. A successful candidate MUST have prior / current experience working in the State system. This role will act as Chief of Business Operations, Budgeting, and Finance, overseeing the day-to-day operations of finance, budgeting & procurement. This position will interact frequently with other C-Suite roles, department heads, and the Governor's office.
How you will make an impact:
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual operating and capital budgets and forecasts
Ensure deliverables of self and team meet expectations
Maintain banking and investment relationships
Direct risk and insurance management, as well as compliance assessments and desk audits
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Hire and train employees, especially finance staff, and manage retention
Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the departments goals and objectives
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

Requirements
Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
CPA or MBA preferred
Experience in Government or the State system is required
12+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
4+ years of experience in a supervisory role, ideally experience managing managers
Proven organizational and leadership skills required
Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills
