Job Description:

This position works in the Dean’s Office of the College of Design, Construction and Planning (DCP) under the direction of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and Facilities. The IT Support Supervisor manages all IT-related activities for the college including system administration, network support, operating systems support, and systems design and/or implementation. This position is responsible for disseminating IT communications to the college faculty, staff, and students. This position serves as a direct supervisor to the DCP IT Staff and serves as a member of the College’s Consultative Council. This position is responsible for communications between the college and UFIT. The IT Support Supervisor will develop IT/AV management and operations policies and oversee onboarding of equipment for the new Collaboratory Building addition.

  • Plans, coordinates, and oversees, network infrastructure, server & website hosting with CNS. Coordinates, work directly, and participate in weekly meetings with UF Microsoft Application Group for Exchange, SharePoint and UF Active Directory participation. Work directly with Hardware and Software vendors to plan and purchase of new technology to ensure its applicability and usability for the task intended. Analyzes the computer and information needs of the College from an operational and strategic perspective and manages information and resources to meet immediate and long-range goals. This includes evaluating the newest and latest technologies and determining how these can help the College.

  • Supports faculty and staff in finding new and useful ways to use computing resources and assure the availability, continuity, and security of College data and information technology services. Work with the Associate Dean to ensure that the College has adequate infrastructure and services to meet current and future needs. Deploys new servers and manages day-to-day operation of all servers. This includes installing new software, managing, and updating existing software, and removing old software. Develop, test, and deploy new services for the college. Creates new user accounts and performs day-to-day user administrative tasks. This includes granting permission to resources, auditing permissions and revoking account privileges. Keep all servers and workstations up to date with patches and service packs. Perform routine backups of all server data. Perform verification of backups. Perform restore of data as needed.

  • Develop and implement security policies for servers and workstations. Periodically audits security of servers and workstations.

  • Supervise IT Generalist II position, and OPS staff.

  • Provide desktop support for faculty and staff and other areas throughout college.

  • Other duties as needed or assigned by Dean or Associate Dean.

Expected Salary:

$75,000 - $85,000

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelors degree; or associates degree and two years of appropriate experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
