Job Description:

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for two full-time open-rank tenure-track faculty positions in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE). We seek applicants with expertise in ISE methods for the modeling, analysis, and optimization of stochastic systems (first position) and modeling of health systems or human systems (second position). Areas of methodological emphasis/focus include (but are not limited to) stochastic optimization, stochastic modeling, queueing theory, simulation, Markov decision processes, Bayesian decision analysis, data analytics, human factors analysis, human-machine/human-AI interaction analysis, human behavior modeling, and related fields. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in the interplay between ISE methods and specific domain(s), including (but not limited to) service and queueing systems, production and operations planning, healthcare operations management, medical decision-making, healthcare policy design, and human-in-the-loop systems.

Successful candidates will develop a high-quality publication record at UF, supervise Ph.D. students, teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in ISE, and contribute to the Department’s service activities. It is essential for the candidates to have a strong motivation for the development of an externally funded research program. For the associate or full professor role, candidate should have a clear agenda for substantially adding to current department funded research and a passion for mentoring and leading early-career faculty to success. Preference will be given to applicants with established research directions and portfolios across ranks. Outstanding candidates will be considered for any available endowed appointments (faculty fellowships) at the time of offer.

UF ISE offers BS, ME, MS, and Ph.D. degrees. We have approximately 500 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students. The Department hosts research in various application areas including energy, healthcare, finance, supply chain, and transportation systems. The ISE faculty at UF conducts theoretical and methodological research in areas such as data analytics, human systems engineering, optimization, simulation, and stochastic analysis. The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is currently implementing a major expansion of faculty and state-of-the-art research and education facilities. Expected Salary:

Salary to commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. degree in ISE, operations research, or a closely related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong academic record for research, evidence of teaching excellence and service.
