Overview of the Position:

A Buyer is a key member of the tactical procurement team ensuring daily execution of purchasing activities while maintaining positive working relationships with our vendor base.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive purchase requisitions from internal stakeholders and validate requirements to ensure product pricing, quality and delivery meet business and customer requirements

  • Confirm purchase price/quantity/lead-time with vendors, generate and send Purchase Order to vendor

  • Negotiate with Supply-Base to secure market leading cost and availability

  • Ensure that all Purchase Orders have been formally acknowledged by applicable vendors

  • Build and maintain solid relationships with supply base

  • Continue to develop knowledge and awareness of specific vendor core capabilities and competitive advantage- Develop and maintain listing of key vendors per specific commodity and capability

  • Ensure no orders are placed with unauthorized AGI vendors

  • Work cross functionally within the Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, Sales, Quality, Operations, and Accounting organizations to define applicable flow down requirements, T&C’s, etc.

  • Handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) for assigned accounts as required

  • Handle Federal Contract Information (FCI) as required

  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve business objectives

  • Demonstrated ability to identify process issues and drive process improvement

  • Open-minded self-starter with the ability to adapt, improvise and problem solve

  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks and projects with various stakeholders

  • Advanced knowledge of current supply chain management, purchasing and inventory control principles

  • Exceptional Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Access)

    Education / Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s in supply chain, engineering or related preferred. 2+ years of progressive, broad based supply chain experience. Experience in Aerospace Industry desired, but not essential

    Reasoning Ability : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
