SME Professional Surveyor in Fort Wayne, Indiana

The Opportunity:

A Licensed Professional Surveyor you will work alongside junior and senior survey staff and other industry experts. You will gain valuable experience working on projects within the land development, energy, industrial and infrastructure markets alongside various survey experts within the industry.

Responsibilities:

  1. Document Preparation:You will be responsible for the preparation of survey documents and computations associated within ALTA, Boundary and Topographic Surveys, etc.as well as prepare survey drawings and descriptions utilizing AutoCAD and other related software packages.
  2. Leadership:You will be responsible for preparing and managing project schedules, preparing forms and communicating the project requirements and expectations to the team as well as monitor the teams work and progress.
  3. Collaboration:Work alongside junior and senior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  4. Data Analysis:Use your knowledge to review data and documents developed by the team for accuracy and precision. You will analyze data from various sources, e.g., traditional field survey, point cloud, GIS, and more to develop and prepare plans and reports. You will provide construction-related services including correspondence with clients, construction plan interpretation, point data extraction, stakeout reviews and more.
  5. Project Review:You will review applicable reference materials and location specific statutes and requirements and communicate knowledge with teammates and clients. You will also review and revaluate project documentation, e.g., field notes, title work, surveys, property descriptions and more.

Core Competencies:

  • Has competency using computer operating systems and MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), conventional total stations, robotic instruments, GNSS surveying equipment, 3D scanning, Trimble GNSS and Survey Controller or tablet.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to effectively interact with clients, team members, and supervisors, conveying technical information clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, manage workloads, maintain accurate and detailed record-keeping skills, documenting field observations, safety concerns, and problem resolutions.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and team members, fostering positive working relationships, customer-centric approach to provide excellent service to clients, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
  • Must be able to understand and adapt to change and react productively to frequent interruptions and changing conditions.
  • Basic construction competencies including ability to determine location from surface features and landmarks by interpretation from surveys, road maps, aerial photos, topographic maps, and geologic maps; understanding construction stakes set by others, and color markings of utility companies.
  • Has a general aptitude for identifying and resolving complex technical problems in the field, utilizing critical thinking and logical reasoning.
  • Demonstrates ethical conduct, maintaining confidentiality and ensuring safety and security in all aspects of work, strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines, fostering a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Ability to handle physical demands, such as lifting (up to 50lbs repetitively), walking on uneven ground frequently, and carrying equipment, working in various weather conditions, and traveling to different locations.
