SR. Manager – Lease and Fixed assets accounting

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Assists the Accounting team in producing accurate and timely financial statements

  • Ensures the timely and accurate posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger for each entity in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles

  • Researches and analyzes fluctuations between current financial results compared to prior year, prior month, and budgeted amounts

  • Managing and supervising the lease accounting team and providing technical guidance for the accounting of leases in accordance with ASC 842.

  • Work with the real estate team and legal team to obtain planned or executed leases and providing lease classification determination to those teams.

  • Review the data inputs in the lease accounting software/subledger for new leases and any subsequent adjustments made.

  • Review month end journal entries related to leases and prepare final funding checklists as needed.

  • Manage the accounting for the prepaid licenses and software.

  • Review the calculations for the monthly rent payments.

  • Managing the fixed assets team and ensuring that all fixed asset schedules, analysis and journal entries are prepared and recorded in compliance with applicable accounting standards.

  • Review balance sheet account reconciliations prepared by the teams.

  • Review the Quarterly impairment analysis prepared by the fixed assets Supervisor, and using additional information, analyze the data for any triggering events.

  • Prepare the lease footnote and supporting quarterly schedules, including cashflow supporting documentation.

  • Review the fixed assets rollforward.

  • Work with various teams, different levels of management and the Parent Company to provide information on various lease related questions.

  • Develops, enhances and implements accounting and finance procedures and documentation of data flow.

  • Reviews, analyzes and determines that the company's assets are properly accounted for.

  • Participate in system implementation of new or revised systems. High energy and enthusiasm, with a strong commitment to exceeding expectations

These responsibilities are representative of job duties to be performed in this position but are not intended to be comprehensive.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

  • 4+ years of experience with demonstrated increasing responsibilities

  • CPA required

  • Auditing experience at a public accounting firm is a plus

  • Experience working with SEC registrants is a plus

  • Restaurant or multi-unit retail industry experience preferred

  • In-depth understanding of GAAP, most importantly ASC 842, and the ability to research and apply technical accounting issues to recording financial results

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Intermediate/Advanced understanding of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel,

  • Ability to work and research/resolve issues independently while sharing best practices and knowledge with colleagues

  • Ability to organize/manage multiple priorities and projects coupled with the flexibility to quickly adapt to ever changing business questions and needs

  • Experience using SAP and Business Objects a plus

  • Desire to be part of a fun and rapidly growing concept
