Impact CNC Quality Engineer in Columbia City, Indiana

**Responsibilities: Assist the Quality Manager in recording and dispositioning daily non-conformances and issuing internal CARs as necessary. Develop effective countermeasures through root cause analysis tools such as 8D, 5Why and A3s. Assisting with the APQP process for new product launches. Design and develop gauges based on inspection criteria. Set up quality procedures in compliance with ISO 9001 supportive of customer and company requirements to support manufacturing. Working knowledge of operating CMMs. Gathering analytical data about the manufacturing process to facilitate smooth operation.

Job Duties

  • Creating and updating Process Work Instructions for machine operators.
  • Interpreting customer specifications, standards and blueprint drawings.
  • Working knowledge of GDandT to understand dimensional constraints.
  • Maintain and implement effective corrective and preventive actions to drive down internal non-conformances based on daily troubleshooting.
  • Verify the effectiveness of the continual improvement process performed on manufacturing cells.
  • Make decisions on first piece approvals to ensure conformity through the production run.
  • Assisting with MSAs for Gauge RandRs.
  • Maintaining all quality specification documentation in accordance with the QMS system.
  • Conduct final quality audits as specified.
  • Maintain and actively calibrate all gauges on the shop floor according to the calibration procedures.
  • Operate and program the CMM as required on a daily basis for First Article Inspections.
  • Report and issue supplier corrective actions and lead the supplier returns process to verify and monitor conformance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a year's work experience in a manufacturing environment as a Quality Engineer.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks or AutoCAD (or any equivalent design software).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints with a working knowledge of GDandT.
  • Knowledge of problem solving methodologies such as 5-Why Analysis, Fishbone diagrams and other root cause analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with measurement instruments (Calipers, depth gauges, micrometers, reed gauges and bore gauges).
  • Understanding of gage calibration, verification, and maintenance of measuring instruments.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining conformance to product Control Plans, FMEAs, Dimensional layouts and Process Flow Diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of SPCs and understanding of process capability.
  • Knowledge of continual improvement methodologies such as Kaizen and lean operation.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong communication skills to help in working with customers and suppliers during on-site visits and audits.
