Job Description Summary

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Preparation / Review of electrical Schematics and generate BOM for PCC, MCC, and Drive control panels

  • Selection of various components for electrical panels.

  • Knowledge on AC/DC Drives, VFD control and operation

  • Validate/Review Mechanical Drawings GA and support for manufacturing.

  • Develop detailed specifications for Transformers and LV/MV Drives

  • Calculation of Load, Battery sizing etc.

  • Preparation of all Distribution/Auxiliary system.

  • Knowledge of Industrial applications for drives, including marine, metal industries and mining applications.

  • Evaluation of vendor Drawings, Calculation & Technical Specs

  • ITO (tender) drawings, BOQ estimation, RFQ finalization & evaluation of various components, selection of equipment with best pricing options.

  • Co-ordination and integration with Automation, Control & Electrical/Mechanical Design team.

  • Co-ordination of site & office team for execution of project

  • Flexible and quick to learn global developments in Drive technologies and adopt.

  • Should be able to identify risk and plan mitigation

  • Knowhow of IEEE / IEC codes, safety in design/EHS aspects, UL standards & Teamcenter PLM

  • Good Communication skills & capability to lead project independently along with Client handling.

  • Team handling & development.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelors Degree or equivalent in electrical and electronic engineering or related subject with minimum 10 years of experience.

Desired Characteristics

Experience

  • Electrical engineering in Marine/industry/O&G.

  • LV and MV synchronous generators and their associated control systems (AVRs, speed governors etc.)

  • Induction and synchronous motors and their control systems

  • Power system control and protection

  • MV & LV power system cabling (cable selection, rating etc.)

  • Power Management Systems (PMS) or SCADA systems and their associated interfaces.

Personal Qualities

  • Capable of leading a multi-disciplined international team.

  • Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects to strict time scales.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Good report writing skills.

  • Good personal organizational skills.

  • Circumstances

  • Willing to travel on short notice within base country and overseas for long term assignments.

  • Willing to work extended hours during the week, at weekends/holidays at critical times.
