Electrical Hardware Engineer

We are looking for an Electrical Hardware Engineer to join our team in Chanhassen, MN.

You will perform a wide variety of tasks related to leading new product development, assisting in production sustaining efforts, and providing automated test support. Additional responsibilities include working with cross-functional teams, consisting of software and mechanical engineers, in support of the business unit.

Your Challenge

  • Translating product level requirements into implementable circuits

  • Creating and packaging circuit boards

  • Coordinating with purchasing and board house for fabrication and assembly of engineering test units

  • Developing and executing Design Verification Testing

  • Working with various suppliers and regulatory agencies

  • Assisting with designing, documenting, and maintaining automated test equipment

  • Creating various documents such as wire harnesses, test procedures, and flow/block diagrams

What you Bring

  • Must be a U.S. Person

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years’ experience, with focus in power electronics and servo drives

  • Knowledge of circuit design, including:

  • Housekeeping SMPS and 3-phase H-bridge SMPS

  • PWM and gate drive

  • Isolation methods; creepage & clearance considerations

  • Communication circuits (4-20mA, Modbus RTU/TCP, ProfinetIO, EtherNet/IP, etc.)

  • Experience with Altium for schematic capture and PBC layout

  • Programming experience with LabVIEW

  • Experience designing and testing to regulatory standards (UL, CE, EU, IEC, NFPA, etc.)

  • Experience with releasing and supporting new designs into manufacturing

  • Technical Skills:

  • Troubleshoot electrical sub-assemblies, harnesses, boards, etc.

  • Soldering and reworking PCAs with through-hole and surface mount components

  • Designing and building automated test fixtures: board level and system level

  • Knowledge of various test equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMMs, data loggers, etc.)

  • Experience with crimpers, wire strippers, mechanical hand tools, meters, and gauges
