The Opportunity

This position is an onsite opportunity in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. We are helping people with Diabetes lead healthier, happier lives. Consistent and accurate glucose monitoring is the foundation of any diabetes management plan, so we’re committed to continuous improvement in the way patients and professionals measure, track and analyze glucose levels.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for supporting a Third Party Manufacturing (TPM) site by leading and coordinating critical sustaining and NPI projects. Partners with Abbott Diabetes Care teams across the division and suppliers as needed to execute projects. Performs tasks such as developing and managing project timelines for equipment changes, component changes, supplier change notifications, and other varied projects. Works with cross divisional functions to drive sustaining projects. Resolves problems, such as production process deviations, vendor deviations from specification, urgent out-of-stock replacements, and crisis situations requiring fast, astute decisions with rapid implementation by utilizing technical training and experience. This is an onsite opportunity in Buffalo Grove, IL

What You’ll Do

  • Estimates project levels of effort and resource requirements by using standard estimating techniques and tools, and by working with appropriate staff to understand scope of effort.

  • Prepares project plans, schedules and budgets by using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and by working with appropriate staff to understand tasks necessary to complete project.

  • Directs project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans.

  • Estimates and coordinates resources needed (materials, budget, time and people) to accomplish assigned individual tasks, e.g. coordinates work with TPM resources and ADC resources for downtime and budget

  • Communicates project status by preparing standard status reports, and by participating in project status update meetings

  • Resolves project issues by working with team members, project stakeholders, and others as appropriate.

  • Consults with internal project groups by sharing project management knowledge and assisting or mentoring more junior project leaders in project management processes and techniques

  • Establishes and cultivates an extensive network of support to facilitate completion of assignments.

  • Participates in the development of less experienced staff by setting an example, providing guidance and work direction, and offering counsel.

  • Support day to day site operations activities such as equipment changes, GMI projects, drive component change discussions and implementation utilizing project management skills.

  • Participates in determining goals and objectives for projects.

  • Influences middle management on technical or business solutions.

  • Exercises judgment in selecting innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution.

Experience You’ll Bring

Required

  • Bachelors Degree (± 16 years), an equivalent combination of education and work experienceMinimum 6 years of related work experience with a strong understanding of specified functional area.

  • Wide application of technical principles, practices, and procedures.

  • Strong understanding of business unit function and cross group dependencies/relationships.

  • Will work in a regulated, high volume, medical device operation.

  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Has a sound knowledge of various technical alternatives and their impact.

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
